For the Love of It

Dainty twinkling fairy lights
wrapped in spirals
gently making their way
around a dark room

Sweet cream dipping into warm black coffee
swirling
dancing to the surface
mushrooming and mixing
in a mug

Soft breezes
slipping through tree branches
illuminated by early morning rays
little leaves
catching dew drops
as the world wakes up

Soft silty pond bottoms
silky fronds gliding across bare feet
waist deep in murky water
beneath an inky speckle sky

Night drives
in that old truck
dust being thrown up
behind worn tires
cricket song
with sea salt air
sliding into the cracks
of opened windows

Waking up
wrapped in strong arms
light breathing
in little ears
soft smiles
and loving looks

Flames licking across bare skin
eating away past pains
kerosene therapy
lighting a match
to burn off undesired things

Small simple things
that put worth
in a heartbeat
