Toy Elephants

The flames consume my empty heart
Burning it to ash
Crumbling outdated ruins
And letting smoke pass
The cold chains rest in my hands now
I’m taking my power back
Now I take rein
Over shuddering flames
The lick up my skin
Yet I won’t flinch
As the burns won’t hurt me
Not this time
Fire spews from heavy tongues
Throwing itself into darkened skies
This time it’s my destruction
Pulling itself forth
From my eyes
Mixes of oils
And fuel
Do my bidding
As I learn to dance with my demons
Instead of running
I will heal
I whisper
To the flicker in my palms
It’s finally going to be alright
